Wander at your leisure through the majestic, palatial rooms with this ticket to the Chateau de Pierrefonds, a medieval treasure in the Hauts-de-France region!

Description

It was the 14th century and King Charles VI of France was in his heyday, and the dominance he possessed is proved by the great architectural works of the time. A small and partially ruined fort from the 12th century wasn't enough to demonstrate his power, the French monarch wanted to boast. So his solution was to reconstruct the previous outdated stronghold and build an elegant fortress known as the Chateau de Pierrefonds.

By booking this ticket for the castle, you'll be able to discover the interior of one of the best-preserved monuments within the French administrative division of Oise, in the Celtic region of Hauts-de-France. The ticket includes a leaflet in English and other languages so you can visit at your own pace and calmly stop to take in the grand extravagance of any room you like!

Inside the Chateau de Pierrefonds, you'll find a variety of paintings, jewels and vintage furniture belonging to different periods throughout the history of France: from the Middle Ages to Napoleon Bonaparte and his descendants, who visited the castle on several occasions. In fact, it was Napolean III who commissioned the prestigious architect Viollet-le-Duc to restore the monument to achieve the look you see today.

During your visit around the Chateau de Pierrefonds, you'll also come across some halls that have been used to shoot television series and films such as The Story of Joan of Arc and The Man in the Iron Mask, the latter starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
