Phnom Chisor & Tonle Bati Day Trip
Phnom Chisor & Tonle Bati Day Trip
You'll be picked up from your hotel in Phnom Penh first thing in the morning and we'll set off on a journey in a comfortable air-conditioned bus. We'll make our way about 30 miles (50 km) south of the Cambodian capital, in the direction of Phnom Chisor, a hill in Dok Por village.
Some 500 ancient stone steps await you to reach the top of the hill, but don't worry, the spectacular views from the peak are well worth the physical exertion. You'll see the ruins of the 11th-century Khmer temple, built during the Angkorian era by the Brahmanism-practicing King Suryavarman I, and dedicated to the Hindu deities Shiva and Vishnu. Your guide, an expert in Cambodian history, will tell you fascinating stories about the temple's history.
Continue your day trip to your next stop: Tonle Bati. Here you'll find the 12th-century Angkorian temple of Ta Prohm. After exploring the ancient temple site and strolling alongside the river, you'll make the journey back to Phnom Penh.
