Come and discover the capital and commercial heart of the Dutch island of St. Maarten on this guided tour of Philipsburg. You'll love discovering every corner of this city, with its colourful streets and beach with turquoise blue waters.
Description
At the scheduled time we'll meet at the car park of the cruise terminal in Philipsburg. There we'll begin our guided tour of the capital of Sint Maarten, the Dutch part of the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. Let's go!
Our walking tour will take us to the Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor Store, a famous Dutch cheese shop. Be sure to bring back one of the delicious products!
We'll then continue walking towards the Sint Maarten Museum. This gallery houses many famous photos and objects that tell the story of the island's past. Did you know that St. Maarten has been managed by France in its northern region and by The Netherlands in its southern region since the beginning of the 17th century?
Afterwards, we'll visit the Guavaberry Emporium, and the St. Maarten People's National Liquor Factory. One of the most interesting things about this place is that it was built on the grounds of a former synagogue, that was abandoned in the year 1781.
We'll also see the façade of the Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit Museum. In this space, the special effects designer Nick Maley employs elements of props and costumes from the Star Wars movies. May the Force be with you!
Finally, we'll walk along the seafront, and after around 2 hours, our guided visit will finish at the Courthouse, the Philipsburg House of Justice. Until next time!
