Why Visit the National Constitution Center?
The National Constitution Center is one of the great must-sees in Philadelphia. This is the only museum dedicated exclusively to the US Constitution, so visiting it is synonymous with taking a journey through the history of the country.
Through interactive exhibits, original artefacts and live performances, the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia will take you on a journey through the origins of the country, the most important milestones in its history, as well as the role played by all the presidents of the United States since the Constitution was signed in 1787.
This museum has 6 different rooms:
- The Story of We the People: Thanks to artefacts and multimedia exhibits, you'll review the constitutional history of the United States.
- Signer’s Hall: In this room, you'll see 42 life-size bronze statues of the framers of the U.S. Constitution—a place to relive this historic moment!
- Civil War and Reconstruction - The Battle for Freedom and Equality: Here, you'll learn how constitutional clashes over slavery sparked the Civil War, the outcome of which marked the promise of freedom and equality with the Declaration of Independence.
- The 19th Amendment - How Women Won the Vote: A perfect place to learn about women's triumphs and struggles with the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
- Constituting Liberty - From the Declaration to the Bill of Rights: This room will show you the fundamental documents of the United States, such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
- American Treasures - Documenting the Nation’s Founding: What was the process of drafting the Constitution like? Here, you can see the first drafts of this important text for the country.
