Tour of Petra
We'll pick you up at the time indicated at your hotel in Petra or Wadi Musa and, from there, we'll travel to the ancient capital of the Nabataeans. Ready to discover one of the great archaeological treasures of Jordan?
The tour will begin by riding into the great Siq or Petra Gorge. Did you know that they filmed some scenes of the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in this narrow gorge? You might remember the scenes when Indiana Jones was trying to find the Holy Grail!
Once through the gorge, we'll admire the facade of the Khazné or Treasury of Petra. It's thought that this extraordinary monument carved into the rock was an ancient mausoleum, although there are also other theories.
After a three to four-hour guided tour, you'll have free time to continue your visit to Petra, a perfect opportunity to see the royal tombs of the Nabataeans. What are the origins of these ancient desert people? Why was their capital so important for the Roman Empire?
After the tour of Petra and its captivating surroundings, we'll head to a local restaurant where you'll have an hour free for lunch.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel, where arrival is scheduled after 9 - 10 hours of activity.
