Route 41 Hiking Activity
Route 41 Hiking Activity
Between 7:45 and 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Perito Moreno and drive north down National Route 41. This road, which runs through the northwest part of the Argentine province of Santa Cruz, will take us to the Zeballos trail. We'll start our hiking route from this long Patagonian trail.
During our hike, which runs parallel to Route 41, we'll cross a beautiful part of Patagonia next to the Chilean border. The Zeballos trail was created to connect different Argentine and Chilean ranches located in this rugged part of the Andes Mountains.
We'll walk along a 62-mile (100-kilometre) long stretch of the route that ascends all the way from 656 feet (200 metres) up to almost 5,000 feet (1,500 metres). As we climb and pass through the Andes Mountains, we'll also see how the landscapes change from steppes to grasslands and high peaks.
Our route will continue up to the viewpoint of San Lorenzo Mountain. From there, we'll see the 12,160-foot (3,706-metre) high summit of this massif. If we have good weather conditions, we might even see the majestic Andean Condor flying overhead. We'll then take a break at the viewpoint to have a picnic lunch, which will include meat and vegetable rolls accompanied by fruit, homemade puddings and a variety of herbal teas.
After lunch, we'll return to the starting point of our hiking route and take the minibus back to Perito Moreno. Our arrival back at your hotel is scheduled for 5:45 pm.
