Discover the historic, architectural and agricultural depth of Pereira on our tour of this Colombian city. You'll also visit a banana plantation during this day spent exploring the Pearl of Otún.
Pereira Tour & Banana Plantation Visit
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off on our tour of Pereira. During our tour, we'll immerse ourselves in its cultural and agricultural heritage.
First of all, we'll travel through the pineapple plantations that surround the town. We'll learn how this fruit is planted, as well as tasting one of the typical dishes from this region. The dish we'll try is the arepa de choclo, which is a tasty corn tortilla.
Afterwards, we'll head to the historic centre of Pereira and stroll through its streets while admiring its historic and artistic legacy. As we walk, we'll tell you some fun facts about Pereira, such as the fact that it owes its name to the lawyer Francisco Pereira Martínez. This lawyer expressed his desire to found a city in this territory, which of course became reality.
We'll see some of the most iconic places in Pereira, such as the Simón Bolívar Square and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty. Once we've finished our tour, we'll leave the city centre to visit a banana plantation.
During our visit, we'll discover how the country's sweet bananas are grown and learn about the cultivation process from planting to harvesting. Did you know that Colombia is the fifth largest exporter of bananas in the world?
Once we've finished exploring the banana plantation, we'll take you back to your hotel and drop you off at 2 pm.
