Berlengas Islands & Caves Boat Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Peniche Marina, where we'll start our boat tour to the Berlengas Islands.

We'll set sail for the 30-minute cruise to the archipelago aboard a catamaran, admiring the marine life that inhabits the waters off the coast of Portugal along the way. Did you know that the Berlengas Islands have been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve? You'll be fascinated by the incredible underwater plants and wildlife!

Having reached Berlenga Grande, we'll swap to another smaller boat with a glass bottom that will take us to visit the natural sea caves that characterize the islands. We'll enjoy a 30 minute cruise to see the São João Batista Cave, the Blue Grotto, and the Furado Grande, an enormous natural tunnel stretching 70 metres under the entire island and opening up into a spectacular bay. During the remaining free time, you'll be able to explore the island via different trails.

After about 3 hours and 30 minutes of cruising around the Berlangas Islands, we'll arrive back at Peniche Marina where we'll conclude the tour.

We'll spend 50 minutes visiting the most emblematic places of interest on the island, the largest of the Berlengas and the only one that can be visited. Among the sights we'll see are the fishermen's houses, the lighthouse, and the historic São João Baptista Fort which you can enter for € 1 (US$ 1.04) per person.

Cuando hay mal tiempo, deberían avisar antes, porque el trayecto de ida fue toda una tortura con el movimiento del barco, y llegamos todos mareados a las islas, las cuales son espectaculares. Los guías nos hicieron el viaje aún así, muy ameno. A la vuelta ya no nos preguntaron en ningún momento como estábamos, y dos de ellos se abrieron una cerveza, hablando altisimo cuando nadie lo hacía, y sin termijar de trabajar...muy bien divertirse, pero si pasa algo no están los 5 sentidos donde deberían Translate this opinion into English.

En la isla hay muy pocas opciones para hacer. A mi gusto, a la actividad le sobrara una hora porque, después de la caminata, tienes que esperar una hora haciendo nada (no estaba el día como para bañarse). Habría que dar la opción con un barco adicional de regresar antes si uno lo desea. Excelente visita, la tripulación del barco muy atentos con el pasaje dado que el mar estaba un poco picado, las vistas increíbles. Lo malo, es que al visitar la fortaleza pagas 1€ para no poder ver nada puesto que acceder a la parte interior solo es posible para los huéspedes del hotel. Excellent visit, the boat crew was very attentive to the passengers given that the sea was a bit rough, the views were incredible.
