Las Lajas Sanctuary + Tulcán Cemetery Tour
Las Lajas Sanctuary + Tulcán Cemetery Tour
We'll meet at 10 am in the Plaza de Nariño in Pasco, from where we'll depart to the city of Ipiales, where the monument we're going to visit is located.
Throughout the two-hour journey, we'll listen to the history of the people of Pasto, focusing on their history, culture and geography. Before we know it, we'll have arrived at the spectacular Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas, an imposing neo-Gothic style structure located at the top of the canyon of the Guáitara River.
It's an important place of worship for Colombians, who come here to pray and pay homage to the image of the miraculous Señora de Las Lajas. If you wish, you can attend the mass celebrated in the church, and afterwards we'll go into the museum to learn in detail about the history of this magnificent Catholic place of worship.
After the visit to the sanctuary, we'll board a cable car to cross the Guáitara canyon, observing the incredible views from the top. We'll continue our visit by crossing the border and entering Ecuador to visit the cemetery of Tulcán, famous for its gardens where we'll find sculptures carved in the bushes of the cemetery.
Finally, we'll stop at a nearby shopping centre, where you'll have some free time before returning to Pasto. You'll be dropped off at the departure point at around 8 pm.
