We'll meet at 2 pm at your hotel to start a private tour of Pasto in which we'll discover the main attractions of the so called 'Surprise City' of Colombia.
Firs, they'll be a brief introduction about this town and start walking through the historic centre. Throughout the walk, we'll observe the typical architecture of the area. We'll pay special attention to the churches that can be found in every corner of the city and that are true architectural jewels.
We'll visit the Cathedral of Pasto, which was inaugurated in the early 1920's. Did you know that it replaced a church that was demolished at the end of the 19th century? We'll be able to see that relics from the original church of San Francisco are preserved inside, such as a wooden cross and a carving of Jesus crucified.
Then, we'll continue our tour to the church of San Juan Bautista, which was the first cathedral in the city. Afterwards, we'll go to the Cristo Rey church and enter the Sanctuary of La Merced, the patron saint of Pasto.
We'll continue to getting to know the historical and cultural part of the city by visiting the Plaza de Nariño and the famous Carnival Museum. Have you heard about the Carnival of Blacks and Whites? We'll tell you all about the biggest folkloric festival of Pasto!
Next, we'll visit a varnish workshop. There we'll discover this unique handicraft technique which has been declared Cultural Heritage of Colombia. To finish the tour, we'll see how the typical paila ice cream is made.
Finally, we'll end the private tour at your hotel in Pasto at 6 pm.
