Irritilas Petroglyphs Hiking Route
Description
At the designated time, we'll meet at Amado Nervo, 102, in Parras de la Fuente. Once we are all gathered, we will start walking along the trails that will lead us to learn about the history of the ancient Mexican sun culture.
After a 20-minute drive, we'll reach the surroundings of San Francisco del Progreso, where we'll start walking along the paths that will lead us to learn about the history of the ancient Mexican sun culture. Did you know that it was called this because of its symbolisms dedicated to the sun?
During the walking route, we'll explain the different types of petroglyphs in this area. There are some abstract ones, with no clear geometry, others perfectly geometric and even some that symbolise whole bodies, handprints and footprints or animals and plants.
In addition, you'll learn what the Nahuatlaca tribes were like, who were in charge of leaving testimony of their stay in this place through these cave paintings.
Lastly, we'll stop for a typical appetizer of the local gastronomy, which includes gorditas de harina de trigo. You'll love them!
Finally, we'll say goodbye back at the meeting point between 2.5 and 3 hours after the start of the activity.
