Bhutan Tour: 5 Days
Description
Day 1: Arrival in Bhutan - Thimphu
As you arrive at the Paro International Airport, we'll pick you up and start things off with a bang, headed straight to Paro Ta Dzong, Bhutan's national museum. Then, we'll take a short 1-hour drive along the valleys of the Paro and Thimphu rivers to arrive at the Bhutan capital, sitting at 2,320 meters (7,611 feet) above sea level.
On the way, you can stop to admire the magnificent Tamchhog Lhakhang, the hereditary workplace of Bhutan's iron bridge. Then, we'll head to dinner and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Thimphu
After having breakfast at the hotel, the day will begin by visiting the city of Thimphu. Once in the city, we can see several different places: the Buddha Site, the Folklore Museum, the painting schools, the farmer's market, and the memorial Chorten.
At night, we'll visit the magnificent and colossal Tashichho Dzong fortress, allowing us to admire this impressive structure at night all lit up. We'll head back to enjoy dinner at the hotel and bring the day to a close.
Day 3: Thimphu – Punakha
Good morning Bhutan! We'll enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then get going towards Punakha via the Dochula Pass. We'll stop here to enjoy a hot drink and admire the views of the western Himalayas. Enhance your experience even further and rent traditional clothing for the most perfect pictures!
Then in the afternoon, we'll visit Dzong de Punakha, and the Chimi Lhakhang (temple of fertility), constructed in the 15th century by the Divine Fool (Lama Drukpa-Kuenley).
Later, in the evening, if you like you can take part in a rafting activity down the Mochu River at Punakha (optional). After you'll enjoy dinner back at the hotel before ending the day.
Day 4: Punakha – Paro – ParoTaktshang
After enjoying the most important meal of the day, we'll head out towards Paro. Once at the town, we'll embark on a hiking adventure to Taktshang (monastery of the Tiger's Nest). Our hike will last about 4 hours. If you're unsure you're capable of completing the hike, you can enjoy the views from below.
After that, it's a 40-minute drive to the Chele La pass at 3,300 meters (10,826) altitude, to admire the magnificent Mount Jomo Lhari.
Then, you'll have the evening free to visit the town of Paro and the surrounding areas at your own pace. Then, we'll enjoy dinner at the hotel again before tucking in for the night.
