On this day trip to Famagusta from Paphos, we'll cross the Green Line to enter the Turkish side of Cyprus and visit the monastery of St. Barnabas, where the tomb of this apostle is located.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Paphos and head to our destination. On the way, we'll stop at Choirokitia, where you can stretch your legs and have a coffee.
We'll cross the Green Line and arrive at the monastery of St. Barnabas, where the Cypriot-born apostle is buried. There, we'll visit the museum of the complex, which houses valuable icons and religious relics, and see the tomb of St. Barnabas.
Next, we'll visit the ruins of Salamis, where the amphitheater and the gymnasium stand out. Afterward, we'll travel to Famagusta.
Then, we'll walk around its Venetian-era walls and admire the Gothic architecture of its religious temples, stopping in front of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, built in 1312 and converted into a mosque. After that, you'll have free time in Famagusta to have lunch and do some shopping.
Last but not least, we'll hit the road again to make our way to Paphos, stopping at the ghost town of Varosi to see its abandoned houses and sandy beach.
We'll drop you off back at your hotel in Paphos, where we'll arrive eleven hours after pickup.
