At the appointed time, we'll meet on Via Borgo Italia to begin a tour of the island of Pantelleria, also known as the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean. Why does it have this curious nickname, you ask? We'll tell you all about it on the tour!
Pantelleria is also known as the Island of the Wind, due to the constant presence of wind throughout the year. During the tour, we'll explore this volcanic island of great contrasts that will surprise you with its amazing natural landscapes, crystal clear waters and enchanting beaches. You won't want the tour to end!
We'll learn about the history and traditions of Pantelleria as we travel by bus through its coves full of hidden caves of volcanic rock. We'll visit the Faraglione and the Arco dell'Elefante (Arch of the Elephant), two well-known natural monuments, and stop at one of the coves so that you can take a dip in the refreshing Mediterranean waters.
We'll then reach a high point from which we'll admire the coves of Balata dei Turchi, where the ancient obsidian quarry was located, and Salto della Vecchia. We'll also pass through Scauri, a lively district of the island, ending at the Grotta di Sataria, one of the many thermal baths of Pantelleria.
We'll conclude the tour four hours after departure at the starting point.
