Travel back to colonial times on this tour! We'll spend a jam-packed day exploring the ruins of Panama Viejo and going deep into the old town of Panama City.
Panama City Tour + Panama Viejo
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Panama City at 8 am and set off toward Panama Viejo, where we'll visit the ruins of the first Spanish city founded in the country.
Our first stop will be at the cathedral, where we'll climb the tower and get unbeatable views of the colonial city and the most modern area of the capital.
Next, we'll visit the wells and rural houses that will show us how the locals lived back in colonial times. We'll follow in the footsteps of the pirate Henry Morgan crossing the Slaughterhouse Bridge until we reach the Fort of the Nativity, the main defense of the city from the west.
We'll also stop at the church and convent of the Immaculate Conception. And if you want to learn more about the history of Panama Viejo, you'll have the opportunity to visit the museum in the Plaza Mayor before heading to the oldest part of Panama City.
Built by the Spanish in 1673, Panama City's old town is one of the colonial jewels of the Pacific and considered a World Heritage Site. We'll begin our tour of this part of the town with a stop in front of the cathedral, the first church built by the Spanish in the country. We'll continue our route visiting the churches of La Merced, San José, and San Francisco de Asís.
We'll enjoy the local atmosphere by walking through pleasant squares, such as Francia, Herrera, or Bolivar. At the end of the day, we'll visit the Panama Interoceanic Canal Museum and learn all the details about one of the greatest engineering works in the world.
Finally, we'll make our way back to the hotels, where we'll conclude the tour 6 hours after pickup.
