Old Panama Tour
Old Panama Tour
After picking you up at your hotel at the time of your choice, we'll head to the old town of Panama City. Built by the Spanish in 1673, it has been listed as a World Heritage Site for being one of the colonial jewels of the Pacific.
We'll head to Plaza de Independencia and make the first stop of the tour at the Cathedral Santa Maria la Antigua. Then, we'll continue discovering Panama City's colonial legacy by visiting some of its main churches, such as the Church of La Merced and the Church of San José.
The old town is home to lots of charming squares, where you can see how Panamanians live day by day. We'll go to the Plaza de Francia to admire its obelisk. Next, we'll visit Plaza Herrera, where bullfights were held in the 19th century. And then, we'll head to Plaza Simón Bolívar, which was built in 1926 for the centenary of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama.
Panama City is also home to one of the greatest engineering feats of all time: the Panama Canal. To learn about its history, we'll take a guided tour of the Interoceanic Canal Museum, located in the Plaza de la Independencia. Here, we'll learn about the construction of this monumental work in the 19th century and the transfer of the Canal between the United States and Panama in 1977.
Finally, after a 2-hour tour of Panama City's colonial legacy, we'll return to your hotel.
