12 Day Tour of Tocantins

Day 1: Palmas

After picking you up from your hotel or the airport, you will be welcomed with a delicious lunch or dinner. Afterward, we will take you to the hotel where we will spend the first night of this fantastic 12-day tour of Tocantins. Then it is time to explore this beautiful Brazilian state.

Day 2: Palmas - Puente Alto de Tocantins

In the morning, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel before leaving Palmas behind and heading to Puente Alto de Tocantins. Our first stop is at the magnificent Sussuapara Canyon in the Jalapao State Park, where you will have the opportunity to take the first dip of the trip under a beautiful 16-foot high waterfall.

After a refreshing swim, we will return to Puente Alto de Tocantins to enjoy a delicious lunch at the hotel. After, we will head out to witness the sunset over the incredible rock formation of Pedra Furada. Don't forget to bring your camera! Then, we return to the lodge for dinner and to rest and recover, ready for the next day.

Day 3: Puente Alto de Tocantis - Mateiros

After breakfast, we'll head to two nearby waterfalls: Lajeiro waterfall, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim, and the spectacular Old Falls, which will leave you speechless.

We continue by heading into the beautiful Jalapão State Park. We will arrive at the small beach of the idyllic New River, where you will have the opportunity to take another dip. Then we refuel with a delicious lunch and, before finishing the tour in the park, we'll enjoy a sunset boat ride on the river. Afterward, we will go to Mateiros to have dinner and stay the night.

Day 4: Jalapão Park - Mateiros

We will have breakfast and then head to the famous fervedouros pools, one of the most enchanting places in the Jalapão State Park. There we will learn about these natural wells of turquoise water and admire the confluence of the Sono and Formiga rivers.

Afterward, we will enjoy a delicious, traditional lunch in the community of Quilombo. With our strength back, we will travel to the stunning Jalapão dunes. The day concludes in Mateiros, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 5: Mateiros - Palmas

We will have breakfast in the community of Plata before heading back to Palmas. On the way, you will observe the incredible ecoregion of Cerrado, a vast tropical savannah of highlands and forests. We will also have lunch during the trip and end the day at the hotel in Palmas, where we will rest and enjoy dinner in a relaxing environment.

Day 6: Palmas

After breakfast at the hotel in Palmas, we will take a fab guided tour of Brazil's youngest capital city. We will see elegant Sunflower Square, the impressive Coluna Prestes Memorial, and many other magnificent attractions. We end the day with a tasty dinner back at the hotel.

Day 7: Palmas - Caseara

We will have breakfast and leave the capital of Tocantins behind to head to Cantão Park. There we will visit the park's headquarters and discover what this ecosystem is like. Afterward, we will go to the Caseara Inn where we will spend the night and have dinner.

Day 8: Caseara - Cantão Park

We will have a delicious breakfast at the accommodation in Caseara before there is a brief safety presentation on the day's activity in Cantao Park. Depending on the time of year, you can choose between hiking, a bicycle route, or a boat ride. Afterward, we will regain our strength with a hearty lunch and in the evening we will return to Caseara, where we have dinner and spend the night.

Day 9: Caseara - Lagoa da Confusão

After breakfast, we will leave for Lagoa da Confusão, the westernmost city in the state of Tocantins. Upon arrival, we will drive to the banks of the picturesque Javaés River where we board a boat that will take us to Bananal Island for lunch in a traditional farmhouse.

Then it's time to set off on a wonderful photo safari. We will search for the creatures that inhabit this area and take some incredible pictures of what we find. If you pay close attention to the river, you will see birds, crocodiles, and many more animals! Finally, we will return to Lagoa da Confusão for dinner and spend the night.

Day 10: Lagoa da Confusão 

We will have a filling breakfast and then start a tour of Lagoa da Confusão, visiting its principal churches, boulevards, and squares! We will also enjoy a pleasant boat journey along the waters of the lagoon that gave its name to the city, and you can even take a refreshing dip. In the evening, we will return to the lodge to have a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Day 11: Lagoa da Confusão - Bananal Island - Palmas

The next morning, we will have breakfast and then set off to explore all three ecoregions of the country: the dense vegetation of the Amazon, the forests of Ipucas, and the Cerrado. We will finish the day by arriving back at the hotel in Palmas, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 12: Palmas

We will have breakfast, before taking you to Palmas airport, where we will conclude this fantastic 12-day adventure through the state of Tocantins.
