Mazara del Vallo Day Trip
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Via dei Benedettini, in Palermo. From there, we'll travel to Mazara del Vallo, a city rich in history, culture and culinary delights, the fruit of the coexistence of different cultures over the centuries.
Once we arrive in the city centre, after a 1.5-hour drive, we'll walk towards Piazza della Repubblica, where we'll admire the imposing Cathedral of St. Salvatore, a true jewel of Sicilian baroque. We'll focus on the Norman elements of its exterior architecture and then go inside to see its precious frescoes and extraordinary pictorial works.
After the visit to the cathedral, we'll head towards the Lungomare Giuseppe Mazzini, where we'll walk admiring the beautiful maritime panorama. We'll then reach the Museum of the Dancing Satyr, famous for the statue of the same name that is kept there. Do you know the fascinating story of its discovery?
Then, we'll reach the emblematic Arab quarter of the Casbah, where we'll walk through its labyrinth of narrow streets to discover its charms. Then, we'll return to the Lungomare, where you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to have lunch and continue exploring Mazara del Vallo. Don't miss the opportunity to try the typical fish couscous!
Once the free time is over, we'll meet back at Piazza della Repubblica, where the shuttle will be waiting for us to take us back to the starting point in Palermo, where we'll arrive after a total of 7 hours.
