On this market tour in Palermo, we'll delve into the authentic ambience of the Sicilian capital and sample some local delicacies!
Palermo Markets Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Church of Saint Ignatius in the square of the same name. From here, we'll begin a tour of the markets of Palermo, in search of the best of Sicilian cuisine!
Once we've made our introductions, we'll begin walking until we reach our first stop. Interestingly, each of the four historic districts of Palermo has its own market street. The most popular are Vucciria, Capo and Ballarò, and these are the ones which we'll visit!
Vibrant colours, wonderful aromas, irresistible cuisine... throughout the tour, we'll tell you all about the importance of the markets in Palermo, and their cultural and traditional significance.
We'll also witness how the street sellers, known locally as abbannìano, call out the various prices of their goods and promotions. It's electric!
Seeing the food on display, you're sure to have worked up an appetite! Don't worry, we won't leave without tasting the local delicacies. We'll taste panelle and crocchè - typical fried foods of Sicily. You can also try some sfincione and arancina and, for dessert, we'll taste the Sicilian cannolo, or if the weather is nice, we might opt for ice cream! All this, accompanied by Sicilian wine - what more could you want?
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes after a 3-hour tour of Palermo's markets. Until next time!
