Palenque Archeological Site Guided Tour
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the CATVI ticket office of the Palenque archaeological site to begin our exploration of this impressive site in the state of Chiapas. Are you ready to discover this ancient Maya city?
Our first stop will be the Temple of the Skull, where we'll learn about the history and architectural details that make this site unique. Next, we'll head to the Temple of the Red Queen, where you can climb to the top and enjoy the view. Who was this enigmatic monarch? We'll find out on the tour!
Then, we'll enter the Central Plaza, where we'll explore the Temple of Inscriptions, which houses the tomb of the great ruler Pakal. The Palace, one of Palenque's most complex structures, is a must-see on our tour as well.
Next, we'll stop to admire the reliefs of the Mayan calendar and other significant carvings. We'll also visit the Plaza de las Cruces, where you can climb the Temple of the Cross and the Temple of the Sun. These structures represent the religious and political importance that these deities had in the ancient Maya city.
Before finishing, we'll visit the Ball Game, a space dedicated to one of the most important rituals of Mesoamerican culture.
Then, we'll finish our 2-hour tour exploring the North Group, a series of smaller buildings that complete the monumental complex of Palenque.
