Delve into the Lacandon jungle and discover its great biodiversity with this excursion to the Aluxes Ecopark in Palenque. Unmissable!
Aluxes Ecopark Trip
After picking you up at 9 am from your hotel in Palenque, we'll take you to the Aluxes Ecopark, a rescue centre for the fauna and flora of Chiapas.
We'll enter a man-made jungle with more than 10,000 species of tree, rehabilitated wetlands and a system of lagoons. First, we'll visit the manatees and have the opportunity to feed these marine giants - did you know that in ancient times they were mistaken for mermaids?
Afterwards, we'll climb a 25-metre-tall tower to see the different birds that live in the park. You'll be amazed watching the flight of the scarlet macaw with its colourful plumage. In the distance, you'll also be able to see the Mayan archaeological site of Palenque.
Around 2 pm, you'll have an hour of free time for lunch. With renewed energy, we'll head to the crocodile area. We'll get to see these great predators up close and feed them over a wire!
Finally, we'll take a night tour through the jungle to admire and listen to the sounds of Mexican nature. We'll see monkeys, turtles, anteaters and the imposing jaguar in its natural habitat. If we're lucky, during this two-hour tour we'll also be able to see the unique phenomenon of fluorescent mushrooms. Keep your camera handy!
Finally, we'll end our magical evening and take you back to your hotel in Palenque for 9 pm.
