Julia was very knowledgeable, she told us the history of Oxford with emphasis and passion, answering our questions and curiosities, always with a smile. Very kind, she always spoke slowly to make us understand everything.

Explore a historic and beautiful city on our Oxford Walking Tour. We'll stroll around the outsides of the magnificent buildings that make up the University of Oxford, which is one of the world's most prestigious universities.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Queen Street in the heart of the city centre and set off on our walking tour of Oxford.

To begin, we'll head to Carfax Tower, considered to be the very heart of the city. We'll admire this 13th-century stone tower, the last remaining element of what was once St Martin's Church, and learn why it has become an Oxford landmark.

From here, we'll walk to the replica of the famous Bridge of Sighs in Venice, which links the two buildings that make up Herford College. We'll visit the outside of the Bodleian Bookshop, the Radcliffe CameraSt. Mary the Virgin Church, located in the famous Radcliffe Square.

We'll also see Christ Church College. This building houses an important collection of paintings, with more than 300 works by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rubens and Van Dyck. If you're a Harry Potter fan you'll also love this spot, as it was used as a set in the filming of some scenes in the saga.

As we explore the city, we'll discuss some interesting facts about Oxford. For example, what are the requirements to study at the university? Who are some of the most famous students to have passed through its doors? What links J.R.R. Tolkien with Oxford?

Finally, we'll visit Broad Meadow, one of Oxford's most stunning open-air public spaces. Having spent 45 minutes exploring Oxford's must-see spots, we'll return to the starting point and finish the tour.

Audio Guides

The tour is led by a live English-speaking guide. You can enjoy additional commentary from an audio guide in English, which can be downloaded to your cell phone.

Private Tour of Oxford

If you'd prefer, you can book a private tour of Oxford. The private tour will be just with your family and friends, and you'll be able to explore the city at your own pace. You'll also have a guide exclusively for you and your group at the time of your choice!
