Hurtado River Valley Stargazing Tour
Description
We'll pick you up at 8 pm at your hotel in Ovalle and, after a journey of just 30 minutes, we'll arrive at the archaeological site of Las Tinajas.
Located just 4 km (2.4 miles) from Samo Alto, in the Chilean commune of Río Hurtado, the Las Tinajas site is home to several cave paintings and petroglyphs. These prehistoric remains are probably part of the Molle culture: a pre-Hispanic people who settled in this part of South America 2,000 years ago. As we'll see, this is the perfect place to learn about astronomy and enjoy this marvellous science.
The activity, in which we'll take a low-difficulty walk for 200 metres (656 ft), will be divided into two hours, of which we'll dedicate the first 60 minutes to stargazing. To do this, we'll use a powerful telescope that will allow us to better appreciate all the stars that shine in the clear night sky.
In the second hour, we'll take an astrophotography workshop in which we'll capture the best snapshots of the night sky. At the end of the workshop, we'll recharge our batteries with a tasting of typical products including goat's cheese and wine, among other local specialities.
After regaining our strength, we'll finally return to your hotel in Ovalle, where we'll arrive at midnight.

This activity includes pickup from hotels in the centre of Ovalle. If you're staying in more remote areas, we'll pick you up at the indicated time at the Plaza de Armas in the city.
