Fray Jorge National Park Trip
Fray Jorge National Park Tour
We'll pick you up at 8 am at your hotel in Ovalle and head towards the Fray Jorge National Park, located 63 kilometres away.
Fray Jorge is the northernmost Valdivian rainforest in Chile, but how is it possible for such a forest to exist in an area so close to the arid Atacama Desert? During the tour we'll discover the different climatic characteristics that make this ecosystem unique.
We'll visit different areas of the Fray Jorge Forest, walking along different trails in this leafy grove declared a Chilean National Park. This protected area is also located just a few kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, so, as we'll see, the camanchaca or coastal fog is one of the factors that contribute to favour the flowering.
As we walk through this beautiful rainforest we'll also discover the origins of this ecosystem, which was formed from a group of living organisms called 'biota'.
At the end of the tour through the Bosque Fray Jorge National Park we'll finally return to your hotel in Ovalle, where we'll arrive at 2 pm.
