Ouro Preto Tour
Ouro Preto Tour
At 9 am we'll pick you up at your hotel to start this tour of Ouro Preto that will take us to explore the main monuments of the Brazilian city. Let's get to know all its secrets!
Did you know that Ouro Preto was formerly known as Vila Rica? As we walk around, we'll talk about the gold rush that brought so much wealth to this town in the 18th century.
We'll walk through the historic centre of Ouro Preto and visit three of its most outstanding religious buildings, starting with the church of San Francisco, the work of the greatest representative of baroque in the state of Minas Gerais, Antônio Francisco Lisboa.
During the tour, we'll also admire the exquisite interior decoration of the Pilar church and visit the rococo Carmo church. Nearby, we'll enter the Oratory Museum, which houses more than 150 religious images from the 17th to the 20th century.
When you're hungry, we'll stop for lunch at a restaurant of your choice. Enjoy!
Once we have regained our strength, we'll go to the Inconfidência Museum, where we'll review one of the most fascinating chapters in the history of Ouro Preto. We'll find out all about the 1789 revolt that aimed to achieve Brazilian independence from the kingdom of Portugal. Interestingly, this popular uprising took place in the same year as the French Revolution.
We'll finish this complete tour of Ouro Preto at 4 pm and drop you off at your hotel.
