Day Trip to Congonhas
At 9 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto and head to Congonhas. The minibus ride will take a little over an hour.
Once at our destination, we'll start walking through the charming streets of this town founded in the seventeenth century. We'll see the facades of its colonial houses and we'll approach the Passinhos, a set of chapels with murals of the Passion of Christ.
Afterwards, we'll go to the Sanctuary of the Good Jesus of Matosinhos, declared a World Heritage Site. The temple will immediately catch your eye with its 12 sculptures of the prophets of the Old Testament that are next to the entrance. These works, designed by Aleijadinho, are considered one of the best examples of Brazilian Baroque.
The last stop of the day will be at the Congonhas Museum, a place that will allow us to delve even deeper into the history of this beautiful town.
We'll end the tour at 1 pm, leaving you back at your hotel.
