Merzouga Desert 3-Day Trip
Day Trip Details
Day 1: Ouarzazate - Dadès Gorges
We'll pick you up at the designated time at the entrance to the hotel La Perle de Sud in Ouarzazate and from here, we'll make our way to the Kasbah Tourirt where we'll have 30 minutes to take photos.
Then, we'll continue down the Road of 1000 Kasbahs towards Skoura and, from here, we'll cross the Valley of the Roses to reach the Dadès Gorges, where we'll spend the first night.
Day 2: Dadès Gorges - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga
We'll kick off the second day with breakfast and make our way to the incredible Todgha Gorges. You'll be blown away by this unique landscape!
Next, we'll travel towards the Merzouga desert through Jorf Palm Oasis, known for being the birthplace of the country's finest dates. Before arriving at Erfoud, we'll make a stop in a small village known for housing fossil fragments.
Once we arrive at Merzouga, we'll hop off the vehicle and onto camels to venture into the desert. Time to go in search of the campsite we'll spend the night in! As we get there, we'll enjoy one of the most authentic dinners in all of Morocco. Get ready for a magical night in the Erg Chebbi desert!
Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Alnif - Tizi N'tfarkhin - Ouarzazate
Our last day in the desert of Merzouga! If there is something we cannot miss on our trip, it is watching the sunrise. After admiring this magic moment, we'll have breakfast at the campsite and begin our return journey to Ouarzazate.
Throughout our travels, we'll pass by the Tafialalet Palm Oasis and the village of Rissani, the birthplace of the Alawi dynasty. We'll get to see Acacia Raddiana plateaus and a stone desert to reach Alnif, where we'll follow the road that crosses the Anti-Atlas mountain range, passing by Tizi N'tfarkhin. Afterwards, we'll drive through the city of Tinghir and the Dadès Gorges.
We'll reach Kelâat M'Gouna around noon, where we'll stop for a bite to eat and a rest before continuing on our journey to Ouarzazate. We'll arrive at our original meeting point around 4 pm.
Tour Accommodation
We'll spend the first night in Dadès. The accommodation will be the same for both standard and luxury options: Dar Essyaha, Hotel Babylon, Hotel Le Vieux Chateau, Kasbah Tifawen, or similar.
We'll spend the second night at a haima camp in Merzouga. The difference between the standard and luxury options (Azawad Luxury Desert Camp or similar) is that the standard category is for 4 people max. and has bathrooms and showers in communal tents, while the luxury category is for 5 people max. and has a private bathroom and shower in each haima.
The standard and luxury camps are completely separate and, as well as the differences in bathrooms, the food, decoration, and interiors of the haimas are also different.
On the third day, the showers and breakfast will take place in the standard and luxury camps.
In all accommodation, bedrooms can be double or, if you prefer, triple or family rooms. If a booking is made for one person, a single supplement will apply, as well as if someone in the group wishes to stay in a single room.
