Guided Tour of Osuna
Description
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Camino de los Cipreses, at the car park just next to the Old University and the Collegiate Church of Osuna. Are you ready to learn all about the charming history of this millennial city?
We'll start by making our way to the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción Collegiate Church, which has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. We'll enter this Renaissance church from the 16th century and discover its numerous works of Baroque art. We'll visit its chapels and the sacred museum and enter the ducal pantheon.
We'll continue the tour at the Encarnación Monastery, a cloistered convent that was used as a hospital in years past. We'll visit its church and pay particular attention to the 17th-century tiles that line the walls here.
We'll then leave the monastery and continue walking through the center of Osuna, discovering its history and some interesting stories. For example, did you know that Game of Thrones shot various scenes in this old town? We'll delve into the past of this city at the Torre del Agua Archaeological Museum. Iberian ceramics, Roman utensils, and Visigothic art await us at this exhibition.
We'll dedicate the final part of this tour to admiring the different palaces and ancestral homes of Osuna until we reach the Plaza Mayor, where we'll finish the guided tour after a total of four to four and a half hours.
