Maestrazgo Mining Park & Culla Excursion
Maestrazgo Mining Park & Culla Excursion
At 8:45 am, we'll pick you up at the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office and board a minibus to the Maestrazgo Mining Park, an underground jewel in the region of Alto Maestrazgo.
Upon arrival, we'll board a mining train that will take us to the entrance of the Victoria mine. We'll put on our safety helmets and get ready to explore this famous underground gallery.
Thanks to the explanatory videos on the route, you'll learn all about the working conditions of miners hundreds of years ago. We'll also tell you about the minerals that were extracted and the tools used, some of which are on display in the mines.
Afterward, we'll visit the Esperanza mine, where we'll talk more about the natural conditions of the galleries. You'll see stalactites, shafts and root systems that weave their way underground.
Leaving the mining world behind, we'll then head to Culla, one of the last acquisitions of the Order of the Temple. There, we'll go on a guided tour of the town, walking through its cobbled streets while we delve into the city's history. We'll also stop at its main monuments, including the 11th-century Arab castle, the Granero del Comendador and the old hospital.
Finally, we'll return to Oropesa del Mar by minibus, where arrival is scheduled for 1:45 pm.
