Discover the best-kept secret in the province of Castellón on our day trip to the Caves of Sant Josep. We'll see a beautiful natural area as we explore these caves on foot and by boat.
Caves of Sant Josep Day Trip
At 3:25 pm, we'll meet in front of the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office. From here we'll drive our minibus to the Sierra Espadán Natural Park, a natural area in which the municipality of Vall de Uxó is located. The Caves of Sant Josep await!
After a 50-minute drive, we'll get to the Caves of Sant Josep, which are the most famous natural attraction in Castellón. These caves have also been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We'll then take a boat trip so we can start exploring the Vall de Uxó caves. As we sail along the longest underground river in Europe, we'll discuss the main geological features of the caves. From the boat, you'll also be able to spot some stalactites and stalagmites.
Next, we'll take a walk through the 250-metre long gallery to observe the history of this place. The Caves of Sant Josep were inhabited over 15,000 years ago, which we know thanks to the cave paintings and animal bones that have been discovered here.
Having spent 40 minutes exploring the caves, we'll return to the surface and admire the beautiful surrounding area. Afterwards, we'll hop back on the minibus and return to Oropesa del Mar, where we'll arrive at 7:35 pm.
