When making your booking, you'll be able to choose which train you'd like to hop aboard for your journey from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu. You can check out the details of both trains below:
Expedition train
The Expedition train will take you to Aguas Calientes, which is the gateway to Machu Picchu. You'll spend 1 hour 30 minutes gliding along one of the most spectacular railway routes in the world.
During the journey, you'll admire Andean scenery that'll leave you lost for words. You'll love gazing out the views from the train's large windows and admiring the view.
Vistadome train
If you choose the Vistadome train, you'll travel to Machu Picchu in a fun and unique way. The carriages have panoramic windows in the walls and ceilings that'll make you feel like you're part of nature outside.
While you admire the views, there'll be a recorded commentary on the train that'll explain lots of fascinating details about the places you'll see during the journey.
Alternate Stop
Please keep in mind that when choosing your train's departure time, if you opt for either the Expedition or Vistadome train leaving at 5:05 am, 12:55 pm or 7:04 pm, the train will not drop you off at Aguas Calientes station. Instead, you'll arrive at Avenida Imperio de los Inkas station, just a 5-minute walk away from Aguas Calientes station.
Limited availability
This activity takes place aboard one of the most popular trains in Peru. Therefore, there is limited availability when purchasing tickets. You may find that there isn't any availability for the day you've chosen to travel, so we recommend booking your ticket as far in advance as possible.
