In this documentary photography workshop in Ollantaytambo, you'll learn about this art form while we explore the last living Inca town. It'll be equal parts creative and informative!

Workshop Details

We'll meet at the designated time at Ollantaytambo's Armas Square, just in front of the Town Council. After a brief presentation and introduction to the workshop, we'll begin our urban exploration.

The first part of the workshop will consist of a photographic tour of the cobbled streets and mystic landscapes in Ollantaytambo, where you'll be able to appreciate the Inca architecture in an everyday setting. With your cameras or phones, you'll learn to manually operate your devices and apply the 3 basic rules of documentary photography.

Afterwards, at the Mamá Eusebia Chicha Bar, we'll show you the preparation process of ancestral chicha, a drink that's considered sacred by the Inca people, and we'll speak about the local Andean culture's history and tradition. Here, we'll also focus on lighting and photographing interiors

We'll continue our workshop through the streets of Ollantaytambo while you perfect your photography skills, exploring different perspectives and movements. Each corner of this village will offer us a new opportunity to capture the essence of living Andean culture.

At the end of this 2-hour workshop, you will have learnt how to use the manual tools of your mobile device or professional camera. You will have also gained an understanding of composition and documentary photographic design, basic rules of photography, and the use of light, shadow, and perspective.
