Olbia Archaeology Tour

At 2 pm we'll meet at Molo Brin near Olbia's marina. Ready for a real journey back in time? We'll hop into a tuk tuk and start a tour of the archaeological sites of this Sardinian city to learn all the details of the past of these lands.

During our tour of Olbia, we'll make several stops at different monuments so that you can explore them on your own and discover many curiosities with the provided audioguide in English.

The first stop will be at the Basilica of San Simplicio, a Romanesque temple whose origins date back to the 11th century. Then we'll go even further back in history admiring the Roman aqueduct of Olbia, a construction that brought water to the city from the nearby mountain of Cabu Abbas. Not far from the aqueduct, we'll see an ancient Roman cistern that was used in the past to store rainwater.

The Romans weren't the only ones who lived in Olbia, however. Before then, these lands were the location of a Nuragic settlement, one of the most widespread civilizations in Sardinia dating back to the Bronze Age. From them, we can see the ruins of the sacred well Sa Testa and the Giants' Grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe. This ancient cemetery stands out for its huge rocky constructions that reach 92 feet (28 meters) in height!

Finally, we'll take you to the exterior of Castello di Pedres, a castle dating back to the 13th century. In its glory days, the fortress had four towers, one of which is still preserved.

We'll finish the tour at 5:30 pm at the starting point.
