Oaxaca Valley 2-Day Tour

Day 1

We'll pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 am and set off for Tlacolula de Matamoros, a municipality in the Oaxaca Valley. Here, we'll learn all about the Zapotec culture, whose members settled in this region in the 2nd century BC. We'll also see the colonial-style Church of our Lord of Tlacolula. You can also enjoy a typical sorbet or charcoal-grilled meat dish at the local market.

Afterwards, we'll head to Santiago Matatlán, a town which is famous for its mezcal. We'll visit a mezcal palenque (production house) and learn the ins and outs of how this Mexican drink is made. You'll then have 1 hour of free time for lunch at 1 pm.

With your strength back, we'll head to Benito Juárez, a community located in one of the Oaxaca Valley's most elevated points. Upon our arrival, we'll settle into the cosy cabins, which have a fireplace, and you'll have bikes at your disposal if you'd like to explore the village on your own.

Day 2

At 9 am we'll head out on a 3 mile (5 kilometre) hike through the dense forest. During the route, we'll observe different tree species such as oyamel firs, strawberry trees and pines. We'll see a breathtaking waterfall that's 33 feet (10 metres) high hidden in the forest's vegetation before we get on the minibus and head to a suspension bridge surrounded by mist. We hope you're ready for some dreamlike panoramic views!

Later on, we'll arrive back in Benito Juárez, where you'll have 1 hour of free time to eat lunch. We'll then return to Oaxaca and drop you back at your hotel at 5 pm.
