Tule & Teotitlán del Valle Day Trip + Mezcal Distillery
Tule & Teotitlán del Valle Day Trip + Mezcal Distillery
At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca and drive to one of the most beautiful towns in the state - Santa María del Tule awaits!
To begin, we'll visit the park where the Tree of Tule is located. Did you know that this juniper tree has the thickest trunk in the world and is over 2,000 years old? While we admire this unique botanical specimen, which weighs around 630 tonnes, we'll learn some fun facts about the tree.
Our next stop will be another one of Oaxaca's picturesque towns. This would be Teotitlán del Valle, where we'll see how typical tapetes, bags and sarapes, a traditional Mexican attire, are made. These textile products are dyed using ancestral pigmentation techniques. Natural elements such as chinchilla are used as dyes, to avoid the use of artificial products that are harmful to the environment.
After learning about these techniques, we'll leave Teotitlán del Valle behind and head to a local distillery. When we get there, we'll discover how mezcal, one of the most popular alcoholic beverages in the state of Oaxaca, is made.
We'll then take you back to Oaxaca and drop you off at your hotel at 2:30 pm.
