Santa María del Tule Bike Tour
At 7 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Oaxaca and take you to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzman, where we'll start our bike tour.
Cycling along a bike path, we'll make our way to the Zapotec village of Santa María del Tule. Once there, we'll pedal to some of the city's main attractions, admiring the exterior of sites like the Municipal Palace and the Parish Church of Santa María del Tule, a 17th-century temple displaying an image of the Virgin Mary.
You'll also enjoy the green areas of the municipality, including Fraccionamiento El Retiro park, where you'll be able to get off your bike to take photos with the emblematic colorful 'El Tule' sign.
Then, we'll go visit the famous Árbol del Tule, an ahuehuete tree (Montezuma cypress) said to be around 2000 years old! You won't be able to resist taking photos in front of its impressive trunk, measuring more than 46 feet (14 meters) in diameter. As you recover from the pure awe of this natural giant, you can even try some local dishes at the market next door.
Afterward, we'll pedal back to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzman to conclude the bike tour, after nearly 15 miles (24 kilometers) of cycling. Arrival at your hotel in Oaxaca is scheduled for 10 am.
