San Sebastián de las Grutas Tour

After picking you up at 8 am at your hotel in Oaxaca, we'll head for San Sebastian de las Grutas, a small town which, as its name suggests, is famous for its caverns.

Naturally, we'll begin our tour of the town with a visit to the caves of San Sebastián de las Grutas. Did you know that these underground galleries are considered to be the underworld of the state of Oaxaca?

During the tour through the caves of San Sebastian, which are 420 metres long, we'll visit five galleries between 20 and 70 metres high (65 and 230 feet). In these caves we'll see the different limestone formations and we'll also learn to distinguish the characteristics of the different stalactites and stalagmites.

After visiting these caves, which are considered to be the most famous caves in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, we'll take a short tour of San Sebastian de las Grutas. In the centre of the town you'll have an hour free for lunch on your own.

After lunch you'll finally return to your hotel in Oaxaca, where you're expected to arrive at 8 pm.
