Rufino Tamayo Museum Guided Tour
Activity Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at the esplanade of Oaxaca's Zócalo, the heart of the city. From this emblematic spot, we'll walk together to the Rufino Tamayo Museum, did you know that Tamayo was not only an outstanding painter but also a great collector and advocate of pre-Hispanic art?
Once there, we'll enter the museum to explore one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic art in Mexico. Walking through the halls, we can admire more than 1,000 archaeological pieces that Tamayo collected during his travels.
The exhibits display creations from various Mesoamerican cultures, such as the Zapotec, Mixtec, and Mexica, and are a living testimony to the richness of the civilizations that inhabited the region.
At the end of this 2-hour guided tour, you'll have some free time to explore the temporary exhibitions and other areas of the museum at your own pace, delving into the works that interest you most.
