Ocotlan Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca and hit the road towards Ocotlán de Morelos, a municipality found 45 kilometres from the centre of the city.

We'll wander through the town's streets, discovering this traditional town, making our way to the Ocotlán Basilica, beautifully decorated in the neoclassical style.

We'll get to know the local market, where you can enjoy the typical delicacies of the region (not included), and we'll follow our route through the traditional square, where every Friday, Oaxaca's residents come to sell their artisanal wares. Here you can buy food, utensils, or textiles as you soak in the festival atmosphere and the music of the plaza.

Continuing the excursion, we'll make our way to Santo Tomás Jalieza, a community dedicated to traditional mesoamerican weaving: a technique that results in a vivid combination of colours in the items they produce.

The cherry on the cake on this tour is a visit to San Martín Tilcajete, where we'll discover the production of 'alebrijes', brightly coloured fantasy inspired sculptures originating with the work of  Pedro Linares in the 1930s they have become a symbol of Oaxaca's artisanal culture.

With the tour over, we'll return to Oaxaca, arriving at around 5:30 pm.
