Oaxaca to Huatulco: 6-Day Tour
Day 1: Oaxaca
Welcome to Oaxaca! When you land at the airport, we'll meet you in the arrivals hall and take you to a hotel in the city centre. You'll then have the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2: Oaxaca - Monte Albán - Arrazola - San Bartolo Coyotepec - Oaxaca
Rise and shine! After breakfast at the hotel in Oaxaca, we'll pick you up and drive to the archaeological site of Mount Albán. When we get to this pre-Columbian site, we'll learn about the history of the Zapotec civilization by visiting the remains of its pyramids, temples and altars.
Afterwards, we'll go to the village of Arrazola to see a workshop of alebrijes. These are Mexican folk art sculptures of mythical creatures that tend to be very colourful. The next stop will be at a 16th-century Dominican exmonastery in Cuilápam de Guerrero. Lastly, we'll visit San Bartolo Coyotepec, a picturesque municipality where we'll visit a black clay workshop.
You'll have an hour free for lunch in San Bartolo and then we'll return to Oaxaca. Arrival at the hotel is scheduled for 5:45 pm.
Day 3: Oaxaca - Tule - Teotitlán del Valle - Mitla - Oaxaca
Once you've had breakfast at the hotel in Oaxaca, you'll be picked up at 9:45 am to set off for the famous Santa María del Tule Tree. This gigantic juniper tree, which is over 2,000 years old and weighs more than 630 tons, has the thickest trunk in the world.
Our adventure will then take us to a weaving workshop in Teotitlán del Valle. You'll be able to have lunch on your own for an hour in this village and then we'll go to the Mitla Archaeological Site to visit the remains of the Zapotec culture.
The last stop will be at a mezcal distillery. Do you know how this popular alcoholic drink is made? Let's find out why! Afterwards, we'll return to the hotel in Oaxaca and drop you off at 5:45 pm.
Day 4: Oaxaca - Bahías de Huatulco
Good morning! We'll pick you up at 6 am from your hotel in Oaxaca and drive southbound towards the Pacific coast of Mexico. On the way there, we'll stop in San José del Pacífico for breakfast. At 1 pm, we'll arrive at our centrally located hotel in Bahías de Huatulco, where you can have lunch at your leisure.
We'll reconvene at 3:45 pm and set off on a sightseeing tour so you can see Huatulco's main points of interest. In addition, we'll stop at a typical Mexican clothing workshop.
You'll have half an hour free for a stroll before we return to the hotel at 6:45 pm.
Day 5: Bahías de Huatulco
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll pick you up at 9 am and drive to the Santa Cruz dock. From here, we'll embark on a pleasant boat trip around the Bays of Huatulco. During the trip, we'll see beautiful coastal scenery and the famous bufadero, a coastal geological formation shaped like a chimney in an area of cliffs.
We'll continue sailing along the seven main bays in the area until we reach the shores of the Huatulco National Park. There you'll have an hour free to snorkel in Chachacual Bay. We'll then head to the Rostro mixteca, a unique rock in the shape of a human face.
The last stop on the trip will be at Maguey Bay, where you'll have 2 hours free to swim and have something to eat.
Finally, we'll set sail for the Santa Cruz dock and then return to the hotel in Bahías de Huatulco, where we'll arrive at 6 pm.
