Hiking in the Sierra Norte in Oaxaca
Sierra Norte Hike
After picking you up from your hotel in Oaxaca at the time indicated, we'll board a comfortable vehicle and head east to the Sierra Norte for a very special hiking route. Let's explore the largest area of cloud forest in all of Mexico!
Before starting the walk, we'll visit a family that makes wooden grinders. They'll tell us about their manual grinders, which are used throughout the state to prepare delicious chocolate. Would you like to try some?
Then, we'll start a 3 km (5 mile) walk to the peak in Santa Catarina Ixtepeji ecotourism park. Along the way, we'll pass by some of the most important towns in the Sierra Norte, such as Benito Juárez, La Nevería, Cuajimoloyas and Latuvi.
As we continue the route, we'll tell you some facts about this beautiful region, which has great natural wealth in its thousand-year-old pine and holm oak forests.
After around 9 hours of activity, we'll return to your hotel in Oaxaca.
