Guelatao & Calpulálpam 2 Day Tour

Day 1: Oaxaca - Guelatao de Juárez - Calpulálpam de Méndez

At 10 am we'll pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca and head to the Guelatao glass viewpoint, from which we'll admire breathtaking views of the Oaxaca Valley and the Sierra Juárez mountain range. Afterwards, we'll drive down to the Guelatao de Juárez municipality and visit a museum modelled on the house where Benito Juárez lived, as well as the basilica where he was baptised. This lawyer and politician is also known as the 'Benemérito de las Américas'.

Our tour will then continue to Calpulálpam de Méndez, a Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town), which is famed for beautiful embroidery. When we arrive, you'll have some free time to eat lunch. Afterwards, we'll take a tour in which you'll learn about this town's culture. You'll visit the houses, the market, and the majestic baroque and neoclassical San Mateo Apóstol temple.

At the end of the day, we'll head to the picturesque stone cabins where we'll spend the night.

Day 2: Calpulálpam de Méndez - Oaxaca

We'll get up bright and early and visit the UMA (Environmental Management Unit), a territorial reserve dedicated to the protection of white-tailed deer. Here, we'll see how these delightful animals are cared for, and you'll be able to take some photos of them. We'll then walk to the Arroyo Cave, where we can walk barefoot to feel a closer connection to the earth as we observe its three levels.

Back in Capulálpam de Méndez, you'll have 1 hour of free time to have lunch. After you've eaten, we'll visit the Traditional Indigenous Medicine Centre to learn about the medicinal properties of this region's plants. You can also relax with a body cleansing, massage, or a trip to the sauna.

At the end of our trip, we'll head back to your hotel in Oaxaca where we should arrive at about 7 pm.
