Located just 20 minutes from Santiago de Compostela, the Pazo do Faramello houses a beautiful chapel and romantic gardens, among other wonders. We'll discover all its charm on this guided tour!
Tour of Pazo do Faramello
At the time of your choice, we'll meet in the parking lot of the Pazo do Faramello, next to the Xardin do Recordo. Once we've all gathered, we'll begin to discover all the wonders of this beautiful pazo, a typical Galician civil palace or mansion.
Erected over the Tinto River canyon, a tributary of the Sar River, the Pazo do Faramello is a beautiful building from the early 18th century built in the typical baroque style of Santiago de Compostela.
First, we'll visit the chapel of the Pazo do Faramello. In this oratory, which was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, we'll find a magnificent altarpiece carved by the baroque master José Gambino. Then, we'll continue in the pazo's romantic 19th-century French gardens. Here, we'll see an old cruceiro (calvary), the old Real Fábrica de Papel, which is covered in vegetation, and the industrial mills.
We'll then walk through the forests of cherry and chestnut trees that surround the pazo. Did you know that, in these forests, lie some of the paths of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James)? On this walk, we'll also cross a wooden bridge and pass through a path of hydrangeas and camellias.
Next, we'll visit 3 iconic parts of the pazo: the baroque terrace of Compostela, the canal of the Real Fábrica de Papel do Faramello, and the 18th-century dam located in a captivating Celtic environment. Finally, we'll visit the Adega da Arte, an old winery converted into a store and exhibition hall.
After an hour and 20 minutes of touring, we'll conclude the tour of the Pazo do Faramello with a glass of wine and a tasting of local products such as chocolate, honey, or jams!
