Petrovaradin Fortress Underground Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Monument to the Victims of the Raid and from there, we'll cross the Danube River to reach the Petrovaradin Fortress, where we'll venture into its tunnels.
The construction of this monument began in the 18th century and was finished in the early 19th century. It was designed as a defensive fortress to protect the territory from the Ottoman Empire and other threats. As a result, its system of underground tunnels became a strategic network of refuge and escape.
Over the course of 1 kilometre (1.6 miles), we'll recount the battles, secrets, and legends that have shaped the Petrovaradin Fortress' history as we walk along its tunnels. Get ready to learn about military strategy, espionage, and survival within this historic labyrinth.
45 minutes later, we'll emerge above ground and continue our tour of the fortress, discussing some fun facts about its construction, but also some of the most crucial historical moments and attacks it has withstood. Additionally, you'll get to enjoy some beautiful views of the city. What a high note to end the tour on!
Lastly, we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 2 hours.
