Novi Sad & Petrovaradin Fortress Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time in front of the Novi Sad City Hall, next to the Monument of Svetozar Miletić. Once we're ready, we'll begin this guided tour of the most iconic sites in one of Serbia's most beautiful cities.
To take advantage of our meeting point, we'll begin admiring the Name of Mary Church, considered a masterpiece in Neo-Gothic architecture. The facade of this church, which was built in 1892, stands at 236 feet (72 meters) tall.
Afterward, we'll stop in front of the Serbian National Theatre, the oldest theatre in Serbia, where we'll share the history of its founding in 1861 when the nation was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
From here, we'll head to Zmaj Jovina Street, where you'll find various cafés, stores, and restaurants until we reach the city's green lung: Danube Park. You'll love the views of the Danube River from here!
We'll continue admiring the stunning historic buildings in Novi Sad, such as the Bishop's Palace and the Museum of Vojvodina before crossing the Danube River and exploring the impressive Petrovaradin Fortress.
This fortress, which dates back to the Copper Age, was Europe's largest fortress in the 17th century and the most important from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the Balkan Peninsula. As you explore its corners, you'll notice that his fortress is an almost unique example of military architecture from the time.
Finally, after 3 hours, we'll wrap up this tour at the Petrovaradin Fortress clock tower.
