Did you know that the churches and sanctuaries in Nikkō are protected by UNESCO? Enjoy these World Heritage Site art displays by reserving the Nikko World Heritage Area Pass, a tourist card that offers you unlimited transport to these monuments over two days.
Unlimited Transport around Nikkō
The Nikkō World Heritage Area Pass tourist card will give you unlimited access to the central Tobu Bus in the centre of Nikkō, as well as train tickets within the Nikko World Heritage Site area. You can go to the old churches and sanctuaries and learn about how life was in Japan in past centuries.
On the following map, you can see the area where you can take public transport, which corresponds with the area within the red box:
In addition, the card also includes a departure and return ticket on the regional train (not express) between Tokyo and Nikkō. What more could you want?
How does it work?
The Nikkō World Heritage Area Pass is valid for two days from the moment of its activation. This is to say that if you use it for the first time on Monday, it'll be valid for that day and Tuesday, regardless of the time of its first use.
At the same time, showing the card will also get you discounts on access to the Tobu World Square theme park and Edo Wonderland Nikkō Edomura, although this price reduction will vary from season to season.
Once your booking has been made, you'll receive an electronic code that you must present on the buses or attractions when being used for the first time. It's important to remember that on the day of the activity, you must have wifi access to be able to use the card.
