Goree Island Private Trip
We will collect you from your hotel at around 9 am before heading in the air-conditioned vehicle to the port of Dakar. There, a ferry will be waiting to take you to the island of Goree.
After a journey of approximately 20 minutes, we will arrive on the small island off the coast of Senegal's Cape Verde Peninsula. Due to its prominent role in Africa's slave trade over three centuries, Goree was declared a UNESCO World Heritage SIte in 1978.
To learn more about this dark period in history, we will head into the House of Slaves, a museum in memory to the millions of people which were held captive and sold here. The practice ended in 1848 when France abolished slavery.
Later, we will walk through the picturesque, narrow streets where you will see the elegant colonial houses adorned with colorful Bougainvillea flowers. You will also discover the pretty beach and see how the locals live today.
When the trip has finished, we will return to the ferry and sail back to Dakar where the bus will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
