Tomaree Mountain Hike & Port Stephens Wildlife Cruise
Port Stephens Day Trip from Newcastle
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Newcastle and set off on an hour-long road trip for a day spent surrounded by the lush Australian wilderness. Adventure awaits!
First, we’ll begin with a hike at the base of Tomaree Mountain, climbing the short but exhilarating 161-meter (528-foot) peak. The breathtaking views from the summit are worth the effort. As we catch our breath, we’ll take in panoramic views of the coastline and stop at the North and South platforms to see landmarks like Yacaaba Head, Cabbage Tree, Boondelbah Islands, and Point Stephens Lighthouse. Our guide will also share fascinating insights into the nature reserves that serve as exclusive nesting grounds for the endangered Gould's petrel bird species.
Once we've hiked back down, after about an hour and a half of hiking in total, we'll take a brief pause, allowing you some free time so you can enjoy lunch at a local restaurant nearby. Afterwards, we'll hop on board a ship for a 2.5-hour marine wildlife-watching cruise through Port Stephens. Keep your eyes peeled as we do our best to spot bottle-nosed dolphins against the stunning backdrop of the Port Stephens coastline.
To conclude our day, we’ll arrive at our final stop: the lookout point of the largest moving coastal dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. Have your cameras ready to capture this unique, ever-changing landscape!
Finally, after a thrilling 9 hours of exploring the coast, we'll drop you off at your hotel, bringing the experience to a close.
Dolphin Sightings
Dolphins are fairly unpredictable creatures, so we can't promise a sighting. The chances of spotting them depend on various natural and weather-related factors.
