Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Tour
Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Tour
We'll meet at the appointed time in Battery Park outside the entrance of Castle Clinton. This is a landmark in its own right: Castle Clinton is a historic fort that was once considered a possible site for the Statue of Liberty.
Then it's all aboard a ferry to Liberty Island. On the ride over, the guide will tell us all about the history of the Statue of Liberty and how perceptions of this symbol have changed over the years. This famous monument was gifted by France in 1886 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Once we arrive at Liberty Island, you'll have time to walk around the grounds and take photos of this emblematic symbol of New York. Then, we'll hop back on the ferry and, if there's time in your schedule, you can also make a stop at your own leisure at Ellis Island before returning.
The island is home to the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, located in the main building of the former immigration complex. Here, you can find out what life was like for so many immigrants who came to the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries. Afterward, you can return to Manhattan on the next ferry.
If you don't want to go to Ellis Island, after visiting the Statue of Liberty, we'll head straight back to the starting point.
