Show Details

When the young prince Simba is born, his evil uncle Scar loses his chance at becoming king, so Scar plans to kill Simba and his father, the King Mufasa to claim the power. Simba survives, but Scar makes him believe that he is guilty for his father’s death, so Simba runs far away. When he comes back to the kingdom years later, Simba sees how the savannah has declined under his uncle’s power and decides to take what is rightfully his and confronts Scar.

The Lion King is based on the 1994 Oscar-winning Disney animated film with the same name. It's considered by many to be the best musical currently on Broadway and it has won six Tony Awards and an Evening Standard Award. It's New York’s best-selling musical since 1997. According to New York Times: “There is simply nothing quite like it”.

Show Availability

Even though there are eight shows a week, The Lion King is the most popular musical on Broadway and tickets are quickly sold out. If you visit the Big Apple during summer or Christmas, we recommend booking two months in advance.
